Commenco, Inc. is the authorized Motorola service facility in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and specializes in providing sales, installation and maintenance of wireless communications equipment.
The company was begun in 1951 by the father and grandfather of the current owner, and now includes over fifty employees and three locations. The main shop and offices are at 4901 Bristol Ave. in Kansas City, Missouri, with another service shop located in Kansas City, Kansas. Commenco’s newest addition is a retail location featuring Nextel and T-Mobile cellular equipment at Eastland Center in Independence, Missouri.
The company currently employs over twenty electronic technicians. These technicians represent a median and average experience in FM communications maintenance of over fifteen years per person, and includes specialists in field services, mobiles, portables, pagers, closed-circuit television, and cellular phones. Field services are provided from service vehicles equipped with parts inventories and test equipment. An experienced, seven-man installation crew performs all mobile and fixed equipment installations, including towers and antennas. All technicians utilize the latest test equipment available and are supported by an extensive inventory.
Commenco provides twenty-four hour support and maintenance of the radio systems and dispatch centers of thousands of commercial users, public safety angencies and industrial users of wireless equipment in the Kansas City metropolitan area..
Commenco’s quality of service, in partnership with CML Emergency Services, was a decisive factor in its selection in August, 2001, by the Mid-America Regional Council to supply, install, and maintain their new 9-1-1 system covering the seven counties in the MARC region. Commenco now maintains this 9-1-1 equipment located at over 45 public safety dispatch centers twenty-four hours per day, 365 days per year. This system has now been expanded to include two routers of wireless 9-1-1 calls that were sold, installed and now are maintained by Commenco. These are the first 9-1-1 routers in the United States to be owned and operated by an entity which is not a telephone company.
